Our story

Coffee as refuge

Metiers was born from the desire to create a place where specialty coffee, careful cooking and the pause hold the same importance.

Our story

An urban retreat in Cosme Velho, in the middle of the city

Metiers Café was born from the desire to create a space where specialty coffee, thoughtful cooking, art and nature could coexist at the same pace.

Located in the garden of Casa Roberto Marinho, in Cosme Velho, Rio de Janeiro's South Zone, Metiers is surrounded by the Atlantic Forest and about a 7-minute walk from the Corcovado Train.

Here, time slows down. Coffee is brewed to order, brunch unfolds unhurried, lunch invites a midday pause and the garden becomes part of the experience.

More than a café, Metiers seeks to create intentional experiences — a place to talk, breathe, observe and be truly present.

As marmosets, toucans, squirrels, koi and lizards cross the garden of Casa Roberto Marinho, the café follows the rhythm of nature and the city at once.

Art, nature and a café in the garden

Metiers is located inside Casa Roberto Marinho, a cultural institute in Cosme Velho that hosts national and international exhibitions throughout the year, and also displays works from Roberto Marinho's collection.

The garden, designed by Burle Marx and integrated into the Atlantic Forest, makes every visit a different experience between art, nature and gastronomy.

Before or after the exhibition, the café invites you to slow down in the middle of the city.

What we serve

Specialty coffee, brunch, lunch and signature experiences

The Metiers menu was designed to fit different moments of the day: breakfast on weekends, brunch, weekday executive lunch, weekend lunch, pairing afternoon tea and experiences featuring coffee, tea and wine.

Our preparations celebrate fresh ingredients, artisan production and recipes built to be enjoyed without rush.

Part of the menu was developed under consultancy from Chef Frederic Monnier, responsible for recipes that remain on the menu to this day, like the Brazoca and other house classics.

The space

Covered seating, garden and open air

Metiers has tables in covered areas and outdoors, both integrated into the garden of Casa Roberto Marinho, in Cosme Velho.

On sunny days, the garden takes center stage. On rainy days, the indoor area becomes more intimate and welcoming.

Every visit shifts with the weather, the light and the rhythm of the house.
